Ocean warriors jump in to save a life

Two ocean lovers didn’t think twice to risk their lives to assist a passenger who fell off a fishing boat during a rather tricky launch at the Shelly Beach Ski-Boat Club last week.
Beulah Mauz from African Dive Adventures who was watching the scene unfold from the shore, said the response from Scelo Cele and Wayne Marsh was incredibly impressive.
“They are both trained lifeguards that just reacted to what they were trained for,” she said, adding that they both deserve high praise.

He was joined by Wayne Marsh, and together they brought him to safety.
Scelo is described by colleagues and friends as a humble person and an ocean lover. He is a qualified lifeguard, accomplished surfer and spearfisherman.
Wayne is a well-known character among the charter boat community in Shelly Beach. He is an accomplished lifeguard that trained many ‘nippers’ during his days on the beach.
Beulah said it was such a positive story with a good ending, and she did not want a special moment to go untold.
She praised both men for coming to the rescue.
