One arrest, unlicensed firearm siezed
Six heroin capsules and 26 parcels of dagga were confiscated.
Margate Saps Task Team acted on information and arrested a man from Durban allegedly planning to commit robberies in the Matatiele area, hiding at a residence in Roosevelt Road last Thursday.
The intelligence also revealed that he was in possession of a firearm.
Police identified the residence.
A 27-year-old man was present when police searched the house.
A 9mm Norinco pistol without ammunition was found.
“As the man failed to produce a licence, he was arrested and charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm,” said Sgt Ncane.
He was detained at Margate Saps and appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court last Friday.
He was denied bail and remains in custody.
His next court appearance is on March 16.
In a separate operation conducted by the same team, also last Thursday at Gcilima location, three men aged between 20 and 29 were arrested and charged for being in possession of and dealing in drugs.
