Port Edward

Issue: A Port Edward resident, Nozipho Vuso is desperate to get some feedback and assistance from Ugu District Municipality.

There was a burst pipe on her driveway, Lot 608, corner of 6th Street and 11th Avenue in Port Edward.

She reported it and Ugu fixed it, but in the process her wall fell down. Ugu cleared all the rubble and fixed the pipe on May 9.

Since then, she has not received any communication from Ugu as to when the wall will be fixed. They even called Ugu disaster department, but their phones were not taking any calls.

She noticed that there was still water coming out of the pipe and she again called Ugu to report it… “Thank you for contacting Ugu District Municipality…” is all she got on the other end.

Getting no luck, she called and reported it again when no-one came out.

“Ugu team, this was on the 18th, since then nothing, water is leaking and no one from Ugu is bothering to check on this pipe that they had fixed on the 9th which still has a leak.

Mrs Vuso said her family cannot use the gate to park her car in the garage and her driveway is muddy and has water puddles.

Response: The problem has been forwarded to Ugu and a response is awaited.
