SOUTHBROOM
Winning the tenth Boy Venter Memorial (formerly the Lower South Coast 2-4-2) last week were Pam Cole-Cook (Banners Rest) and Mike Dunn (Village), who had a runaway win in the popular event.
Founded by Boy and Janet Venter in 2016, the competition attracted 56 pairs from across the country, particularly Brackenhurst and Durban Collegians.
It is played over nine sessions of 12 ends on the South Coast’s four single-green clubs, namely Southbroom, Munster, Port Edward and Banners Rest.
The greens are strung for seven rinks, which makes for interesting bowling on the outside rinks on occasion as there is only just enough space in which to draw.
Pam is a former winner alongside husband Brian; Mike is a first-time participant.
