The Covid-19 vaccination drive in the Ugu District has gained ground as more than 17 000 people have received their jabs over the last few weeks.
Between May 17 and 28, some 3015 healthcare workers were vaccinated along with 14 364 people aged over 60.
The vaccine currently being rolled out is the two-dose shot developed by Pfizer/BioNTech.
“So far, we have received nothing but positive feedback. Fortunately, no one has experienced any serious side effects, said Phumza Morai, PRO of Port Shepstone Regional Hospital.
People are also urged to register for the vaccine before they go to a vaccination site.
“I appeal to the younger people to assist the elderly in their families get registered,” said Rajeshree Govender, Ugu District quality assurance manager.
