Policemen retire, thanked for dedicated service

Warrant Officer Nondaba embarked on his policing career in 1983 at Margate SAPS until his retirement in May 2021.

Margate SAPS bids farewell to two of its dedicated members who have spent most of their policing careers in the crime prevention environment.

Both Captain Khulelani Mhlongo and Warrant Officer Sibusisiso Nondaba spent 38 years each loyally serving the police.

Captain Mhlongo began his policing career in 1982 at Mehlomnyama. He worked at a number of police stations including KwaMbonambi, Port Shepstone Public Order Policing and Gamalakhe before putting down roots at Margate SAPS in 2013.

Captain Mhlongo states that during this long journey God has really been with him and his love and passion for policing prevented him from retiring earlier than May 2021.

Police spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane said Capt Mhlongo’s long and fruitful policing career can only be attributed to the support of the members, management and his family. He will now devote his time to farming and spiritual matters where he aims to help those who cannot help themselves.

As a ‘walking library’ he possessed a wealth of information and experience which many members were able to draw from. He also agreed that the love and support of all those around him enabled him to be a successful policeman. He reminded those he left behind that policing requires tremendous sacrifice and commitment.

Margate station commander, Brigadier William Slabbert thanked the officers for their unwavering support, discipline and dedication. They have been an inspiration to all members in his command. He wished them well on their well deserved retirement.
