Celebrations as two new stores open on South Coast
The owners and management are constantly looking to improve the store's layout and to bring in new features, all to make your shopping experience a pleasant one.
The South Coast has welcomed two brand new stores, one each to the towns of Uvongo and Southbroom. Official ribbon cutting ceremonies were held recently to mark the opening of Southbroom’s very own Kwikspar and a new Tops in Marine Drive, Uvongo.
These were opened by well known businessman Robin Petterson in partnership with Peter and Keith Versfeld.

Robin, a born-and-bred South Coaster descended from one of the pioneer families who settled on the coast, continues to invest in the area he loves. He also recently opened the popular Grove Restaurant in Margate.

Despite Covid-19 and general doom and gloom, Robin continues to have confidence in the area. “Previous generations have had to endure immense hardship, not least of which were two world wars, and yet they put their heads down and carried on.
I refuse to give in to negativity and believe we live in paradise. Covid-19 has hit everyone hard and I have lost some very dear friends to it, but those of us who survived it must continue, and be grateful they did.” He has also encouraged the next generation to become entrepreneurs. “Perhaps when I die all I want inscribed on my head stone is ‘he tried’,” he added.

The Southbroom Kwikspar is centrally located in beautiful Southbroom. The store’s primary focus is bringing convenience and customer satisfaction to its locals and visitors alike. It is fully equipped, from daily essentials and groceries to a Chikka Chicken outlet and ready-to-go Sunday lunches.

Customers can expect to run into the familiar face of Bheki Ngeleka, who joined the first Southbroom supermarket in 2008. The owners and management are constantly looking to improve the store’s layout and to bring in new features, all to make your shopping experience a pleasant one.
The project to open the new flagship Tops in Marine Drive, Uvongo began 18 months ago. Despite it being a difficult year for the liquor industry, the team has done an excellent job in fulfilling its vision for this new store.

The store’s impressive utilisation of space has allowed for the inclusion of some new and exciting features. These include a state-of-the-art beer chiller spanning some 70 square metres and a wine room.
The wine room is temperature controlled, allowing a wide variety of white wines, rosés and sparkling wines to remain constantly at a palate-pleasing 14 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the liquor range, the store offers an aesthetically pleasing tasting area.
Both stores have plenty of ongoing specials to help with the budget.
