Mayibelo Mthembu of Merlewood Secondary School dressed for success as she participated in the 2021 Children’s Parliament event.
The event was hosted by the Department of Education and took place in Pietermaritzburg on May 31 .
Participants engaged in a range of oratory activities including speeches and debates.
Mayibelo was joined by participants from many other schools, who share her passion for children’s rights.
“I was surprised and happy that there were candidates from other schools willing to stand up for children all over the world.
We are the voice of the voiceless and we are the future,” said Mayibelo.
She added that candidates also received inspiring motivational talks, reiterating that they stand for the children all over the world as the leaders of tomorrow.
