Msah’s melodic musical dream takes shape

Music has saved and changed many lives, none more so than for 22 year-old Msawenkosi Mtshali of Gamalakhe.

A producer, writer and recording artist, the artist also known as ‘Msah’ aims to inspire everyone, especially those with a disability.

After being born with muscular dystrophy, a rare muscle disorder, Msah was left wheelchair bound in 2014.

“My aim is to encourage people who are living like me that being disabled does not stop you from doing anything in life, you can achieve anything that you want,” he said.

“It was really hard because there are a lot of things I could no longer do. I had to adjust to my new life and accept it because there is nothing I can do about it, except continue to follow my dreams,” he added.

His passion for music began during his high school years at Gamalakhe Commercial High, and on completing matric in 2018, Msah began pursuing his dream in the music industry and eventually began releasing music this year.

“I started recording music this year because all along I didn’t have enough equipment. At the time I only had a microphone and a laptop so it wasn’t enough to produce quality music.

Through his talent, he produces almost all genres, namely Hip hop, R&B, Gqom and many others. He also founded and registered his studio “Planetary Art Studio” in an effort to raise funds to acquire treatment for his condition.

“Art has helped me a lot. Most of the time I’m usually indoors and making music. Art is the only thing that keeps me going,” he said.

Msah currently has a single out “What about us” which is available on all digital music platforms for streaming and download.

“In August I’ll be releasing another song, “It’s time to shine” an R&B rap song that could feature a few artists. I also plan on releasing another song in November.”
