“As Umdoni Municipality, we reiterate the call to the youth and strongly appeal to our young people to assist the elderly to register and get vaccinated immediately.”
Even though many Umdoni residents continue wearing a mask, washing and sanitizing hands and social distancing, Mayor Khathi added that people are warned against participating in super-spreader events in the form of any public gathering.
“The public must comprehend that funerals are limited to 50 people with observation of social distancing and any other public gatherings are strictly prohibited,” she said.

“This has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone, and will undoubtedly continue to be tough-going for some time, but by ordering food, you’re playing a vital part in supporting our local tourism,” said CEO of Ugu South Coast Tourism, Phelisa Mangcu.
“The impact of Covid-19 on tourism has been substantial, and being a key tourism destination, the KZN South Coast needs all the local support we can give.”
People are advised to continue adhering to regulations when and if supporting establishments like this, and mayor Khathi reminds the public that anyone found to be in contravention of any of the regulations will face the law.
“We urge the community to work with us to flatten the curve by being in strict adherence of the regulations which will save the lives of the people of Umdoni.”
