Intrepid couple paddle for NSRI
They have decided to paddle 242 kilometres to raise R150 000 for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
Vic (69) and Anita (81) Pretorius from Sunwich Port are adventurers at heart and always have been.
They have decided to paddle 242 kilometres to raise R150 000 for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
They have chosen the Vaaldam and its contributors, Wilge and Vaal rivers, to be the ideal place to do just such an event as they have spent a number of years sailing those waters.

“The Vaaldam was on our radar for the start of spring 2021. While talking about the trip, we decided to turn it into a unforgettable event and do it for a worthy cause,” said Vic.
Some three months ago they acquired a yellow two-man canoe and decided to explore as many dams and rivers as possible, and they have already started their training on the Mzimkhulu River in Port Shepstone.
Why is the couple supporting NSRI?
They said they have always had tremendous admiration for the work done by the organisation saving many lives and rescuing many people.
Secondly, they have much respect for all the volunteers who regularly put their lives at risk to help others.
Last, but not least, they have always gotten the impression that those volunteers treat the equipment at their disposal, funded largely by the private sector and the public, with much care and pride and that is to be commended.
