These structures erected on state land have raised concerns as it’s felt they house illegal shack dwellers, in turn leaving the area in a filthy state and also encourage or serve as a hideaway for criminals.

Southport Community Police Forum (CPF) chairman John Irven, applauded Saps, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Law Enforcement and Ratel Security for their great work and assistance in removing the illegal shacks.

“The team will continue to monitor the situation constantly. The mess however left behind is a huge problem, and a massive clean-up will now have to be arranged,” he said.
