Audrina provides voice of hope during unrest

After the recent turbulent unrest throughout the province, a glimmer of hope and distraction was provided by the beautiful voice of Audrina Nadasen.

Audrina Nadasen’s video of her singing the national anthem has been shared over 250 000 times on social media and has inspired hope amongst many residents in the province.

“I have always believed that music has the power to heal and unite a nation. The aim of the video was for me to remind South Africans of the similarities we possess as a diverse nation rather than focus on the differences and negativities. The video has helped hundreds of thousands of South Africans understand our anthem as well,” she said.

The daughter of Port Shepstone resident, the late Rufus Nadasen, Audrina completed high school at Queensburgh Girls High in Durban, before studying B Com accounting at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and now runs and manages her own 100% organic skincare brand.

“As a born free I have never witnessed anything like the protesting and looting, but I have also never seen Africans, Indians, Whites and Coloureds come together to fight against a common enemy,” she said.

“The national anthem was created to unite us in the first place. Now more than ever it’s important that we show a united front. I hope that more South Africans will sing along to the national anthem and find peace and hope like singing it did for me,” she added.

Audrina also writes and records her music with her partner Tiras Re’u, which is available on Spotify and Apple music under Audrina and Tiras.
