Resort staff roll up sleeves to upgrade clinic and pre-school
Wild Coast Sun continues to supply water and electricity to the facility for smooth operation.
To mark Mandela Day this year, the Wild Coast Sun’s management team and staff were getting ready to use their time and expertise to assist their local community.
Approximately R30 000 in hard costs were incurred by the resort to fund paint, doors, door frames, door handles, window frames and window glasses.

The Amadiba Clinic and Pre-school will be the recipient of their effort. The facility, which is approximately 2km from the resort. Both the Amadiba Clinic and PreSchool were built by Wild Coast Sun. Wild Coast Sun continues to supply water and electricity to the facility for smooth operation. The clinic and the preschool services people from villages in Amadiba and Imizizi administrative areas.
The clinic offers primary healthcare services namely paediatric care, dental care, vaccinations, screening and treatment for conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes, care for minor symptoms, such as sore throat, cough, or nasal congestion, treatment for common illnesses like colds, the flu, or urinary tract infections (UTIs) and treatment of some injuries, such as minor cuts or burns. This facility is staffed with nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, clinical psychologists and clinical social workers.

The pre-school is an early education and care center offering learning programs to develop literacy in children from the ages of three to five years old.
On the day, 40 employees along with resort management and local ward councillor Ronald Mayer pulled up their sleeves to give back 67 minutes to the facility through cleaning, landscaping, general maintenance and painting.
Head nurse of the clinic Mrs Nkomo said, “We are grateful for the work that Wild Coast Sun has done for us. The clinic was struggling with broken windows and doors to such an extent that we had to put plastics and cardboard on the windows to block the rain and cold wind. Now the clinic looks revitalised and is in a better state.

This preschool and clinic was built by Wild Coast Sun and they still support us with water and electricity. We are really privileged to have Wild Coast Sun as out neighbour.”
Miss Ncanywa a teacher at the preschool thanks Wild Coast Sun for the assistance offered.

She recalls that the windows and doors were broken, walls were dirty and dull. She further explained that with the assistance from Wild Coast Sun, the preschool is in a far better condition and conducive environment for children to learn.
