In the dark… on Friday 13th

According to a source, the root of the problem appears to have been a cable fault.

Friday the 13th last week, did indeed bring some bad for many mid-South Coast locals who were left in darkness for hours with no electricity.

Reports indicated that parts of Scottburgh and Park Rynie were affected from as early as 04:40 that morning.

According to a source, the root of the problem appears to have been a cable fault.

Eskom members, the fire department and Gladiator Security Services on site.

Those who didn’t experience the power outage had to bear with numerous power dips throughout the day, and by the early evening, many
people had their electricity restored.

For others who weren’t so lucky, such as Park Rynie residents, a power box caught alight on Alkins Drive escalating the problem.

Gladiator Security Services guarded the site ensuring no one put their lives in danger while awaiting the fire department, and Eskom members also arrived at the scene.

The fire was put out before it reached an uncontrollable state, and by 22:00 that evening, the power was back on for the majority.

The following day, yet another power outage occurred in the area, but it seemed to be due to repairing the burnt power box.

The power box up in flames during the evening of Friday the 13th.

Eskom was asked to provide information on what the actual cause of the power outages were and what caused the box to catch alight.

A follow up article will be done should feedback be provided.
