Nandile releases new single

According to Nandile a move to Johannesburg from Gqeberha in 2018, and support from her friends made the difference.

From talent shows at Port Shepstone High School, to student crowds at Nelson Mandela University, and international television appearances and a new single – Nandile Ndamase of Port Edward has staked her claim not only in South African hip hop, but the music industry as a whole.

Nandile who also uses the same stage name is garnering respect from industry elites such as Stogie-T and Slikour.

Her new single released earlier this month titled “Eziway” is making waves around social media and radio.

“I moved to Johannesburg to pursue my career as I realised I had an opportunity, so I chose to chase my dreams. A friend of mine sent my music to SlikourOnLife and I didn’t realise how big it would turn out to be at the time,” she said.

After being featured on SlikourOnLife (an urban hip hop publication) performing her song “Bar for bar”, Nandile caught the eye of award-winning rapper musician Stogie T who awarded her the “Verse of the month” title. She would later go on to win “Verse of the year” and be featured on Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) “BET Fresh Faces Cypher” all in 2019.

“It’s a funny story because I was in the back of my dad’s van travelling from Maqhingqo (Eastern Cape) to Port Edward and I was so excited, the network was terrible but I remember the excitement like it was yesterday. Following that performance I got a call from the SlikourOnLife team asking me to feature on their Fresh Faces Cypher on BET.”

After getting married and giving birth to her first child in 2020, the rising star took a short break. However a 2021 comeback was inevitable as “Eziway” currently sits on top of the YFM charts on “The Stir up” hosted by Ms. Cosmo.

Back by popular demand is Port Edward resident and former Sheppie High learner Nandile Ndamse who is ready to once again take the music industry by storm.

“My new single Eziway was inspired by me, I know, it sounds egotistical, but I was about four-and-a-half-months pregnant when the Covid-19 lockdown started and I couldn’t get out of the house, meet other creatives, go to the studio or anywhere really,” Nandile said.

“After some time I had to reflect and realise that I was Nandile before the award, before being number one, before TV and before all those achievements. It was me and a pen. So the song was a reminder to myself that I’m still ‘killing it’ and I can ‘kill’ it however and whenever I want to,” she added

Eziway is available on all major streaming platforms. South Coast residents are urged to also follow Nandile @nandile_za on all social media platforms.
