UPDATE: Two arrested in Tweni double murder case

Whilst suspects have been arrested in this matter, the investigation is still at a sensitive stage and police are working around the clock, leaving no stone unturned.

Two men, aged 25 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Murray and Julie Ross in their home in Umtentweni last Saturday.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said one of the men appeared in court earlier today, while the other has been taken in for questioning.

Selvan Chetty, chairman of the Umtentweni Community Police Forum (CPF), welcomed the swift arrest of suspects linked to the recent double murders of Murray and Julie Ross of Umtentweni.

“The incident sent shockwaves across the close-knit community of Umtentweni, blanketing the area with fear and speculation,” he said in a statement released today.

“Whilst suspects have been arrested in this matter, the investigation is still at a sensitive stage and police are working around the clock, leaving no stone unturned. We call on the public to remain calm, yet vigilant, and allow the Saps to continue with their professional work.”

He thanked Saps, law enforcement and all security agencies for their cooperation and support in ensuring the speedy apprehension of suspects. He also thanked CPF members and the sector commander for their contribution as well.
