Jolly walker in search of letter writer Nadia
Before he leaves, Darrell wants to find and give Nadia, a young girl, who wrote him this note, a gift.
Many South Coasters will remember jolly walker, Darrell Day who would smile and wave to passing motorists.
In 2018, Darrell Day, who lives at Mbango Valley, officially hung up his takkies.
Darrell has been on the road since 1979 – running or walking and then, in recent years, waving to passing motorists at the Oribi Plaza traffic lights in the mornings.
Even taxi drivers, policemen and paramedics loved to give Darrell a hoot or quick blast of a siren when they saw him.
Three years ago, Darrell sadly had a stroke and stopped his morning routine of walking and waving to everyone along the road.
He will be leaving to live with his daughter Nicky Good in Canada on October 13.
Before he leaves, he wants to find and give Nadia, a young girl, who wrote him this note, a gift.
Nadia can contact the Herald, who will put her in touch with Darrell.
Darrell has lived on the coast for more than 20 years and is married to Jenny.
They have four children, who live overseas, and eight grandchildren.
