Couple paddle for NSRI
The couple have been training on the Mzimkhulu River in Port Shepstone.
Vic (69) and Anita (81) Pretorius from Sunwich Port have less than a month until they paddle 242 kilometres to raise R150 000 for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
They have chosen the Vaaldam and its contributors, Wilge and Vaal rivers, to be the ideal place to do just such an event on October 1, as they have spent a number of years sailing those waters.
The couple have been training on the Mzimkhulu River in Port Shepstone.
“The training is going well, we have not been sick or injured,” said Vic.
Jeremiah Jackson, NSRI Shelly Beach station commander said NSRI was grateful to the couple for coming onboard to raise funds.
Why is the couple supporting NSRI?
They said they have always had tremendous admiration for the work done by the organisation, which helps saves lives.
Secondly, they have much respect for all the volunteers who regularly put their lives at risk to help others.
