Shoreline Challenge from Port Edward to Mtamvuna River wraps up series
The final 6km walk started at the Port Edward National Sea Rescue Institute base and finished at the Mtamvuna River at Riverside.
The South Coast Shoreline Challenge concluded on Sunday, with walkers completing the eighth and final leg from Port Edward to the Mtamvuna River at Riverside.
Organised by the Mzimkhulu Honorary Officers, the challenge comprised eight walking legs covering more than 50km, taking walkers along the coastline over four months from May to August.
The final 6km walk started at the Port Edward National Sea Rescue Institute base and finished at the Mtamvuna River at Riverside, with walkers enjoying a scenic coastal route and a ferry crossing to Riverside.
Beyond the walk, the challenge also promotes care for the coastline, with ramblers encouraged to collect litter and raise awareness about keeping beaches and the marine environment clean.
Organisers extended a special thank you to the Boogie Babes and walkers for collecting litter and inspiring others to continue the clean-up efforts until the next challenge.
The final event also included a lucky draw, with Jenny Els winning a beautiful painting donated by Derrick Wridgeway. Organisers thanked Wridgeway for his generous contribution and everyone who supported the fundraiser by purchasing tickets.
