Spring in step for Rotary flea market

There was such a fun vibe, the stall holders were friendly and welcoming and the Rotarians, led by the super well organised Dubretha Oosthuizen, helpful and humorous.

While the weather may not, at least initially, have played the game, the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast‘s Uvongo Flea Market, themed Spring Fever, did not disappoint.

For those who drive past what has almost become a landmark on the South Coast and wonder what’s inside, it’s high time you pop in for a visit, at least once.

Spring time for these pineapples.

I dragged the family along to experience what it was all about. “We won’t be long, I’ll just a few quick pics,” I promised.

At first they didn’t really want to go all that way from Oslo Beach (really).

Then once there, they didn’t want to leave. Eventually it was my call, mostly to rescue my bank card and diminishing balance!

By the time we left, we had bought coffee, cupcakes, ice-cream, fudge, biltong, a bracelet, one of those things that cuts cabbages in a fancy way, and who knows what else.

Bonita Gregory (left) and Alison Loumeau act as judges for the Spring Fever competition.

As it was spring, there was a competition for best stall, won easily I suspect by Fanie du Toit’s Little Food Den.

Second prize went to Jane Zangle and third to Johan and Jansie du Toit.
