Trailer load of waste collected at beach clean-up

South Coast Recycling picked up a trailer load of the collected waste and will recycle it and give the raw material a new purpose.

More than 45 large bags of rubbish were collected by 24 participants between the parking lot of Panorama Drive to Ramsgate main beach during International Beach Clean-up Day last Sunday.

Initiated by the Ramsgate Lions Club, the participation of highly motivated community members, several Rovers from the 1st Scout Club, children and teachers from Gcilima Primary, the environmental and community-orientated project was a huge success.

South Coast Recycling picked up a trailer load of the collected waste and will recycle it and give the raw material a new purpose.

Lions District Governor Patrick Mills and his wife Bernice from Gauteng visited the Ramsgate Lions Club and joined in the 5,5km beach clean-up.

Because of generous donations of a local butchery, a supermarket and a water supplier, guests were invited to a braai afterwards.

A huge thanks to all who made this day successful and remarkable.
