Scrap metal manager brought to book for stolen property

Upon their arrival, they found Ngcameni with tower batteries.

Scottburgh Regional Court recently convicted and sentenced Albert Ngcameni (33) to six months imprisonment or a fine of R30 000 for receiving property suspected to be stolen.

On February 4, 2020, Ngcameni who was a scrap metal manager was arrested by Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation for receiving stolen tower batteries.

Police spokesman, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said members received information about a vehicle which was carrying stolen tower batteries and a follow up led them to the local scrap metal dealer in Hibberdene.

Upon their arrival, they found Ngcameni with tower batteries. He was arrested along with John Piri (26) who was charged for being in the country illegally.

Piri was sentenced to six months direct imprisonment and will be deported at the end of his sentence.
