It’s a new month; Christmas is almost upon us! Happy spring and Heritage Month.
Thanks to Elaine Naidoo and her committee from Illovo, who raised R13 950 for Khanya Hospice. God bless you for bringing hope, comfort and dignity to the patients. What began as a family initiative has grown into an annual commitment to fundraising for CANSA and Hospice. In recent years, friends from the small community of Illovo have joined the cause, helping to make a meaningful difference. For Elaine and her family, the cause is deeply personal, having lost her father, family members and friends to cancer. These experiences have strengthened their commitment to supporting others facing similar journeys. On August 15, the team hosted a high tea fundraiser for hospice, an organisation providing essential free palliative and emotional support to people living with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. For the team, hospice is about more than medical care; it is about compassion.

Pennington Open Gardens Meander takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13, from 10:00 to 15:00. It is a scenic trail featuring all the beautiful gardens open to visits. Open Gardens passport costs R100 per person. Passports are available at Post Script in Pennington. Run it or walk it. Take your time to enjoy the gardens along the way. With two convenient designated parking areas, you can easily start or finish the meander at either point. There is plenty of parking available. For more information, contact 074-977-2266.
A reminder that a Colour Fun Walk in aid of Khanya Hospice takes place at Scottburgh main beach on September 27, from 09:00. Registration is at the main beach. For details, contact 072-507-8773. Registration for the walk is from 07:00 to 09:00. Entry is R50 for adults, R30 for children, and R20 for pensioners. The walk will start at 10:00 after a fun warm-up with Just Move. There will be a market with local goods and live music all day. Let your light shine for the fighters, the survivors and the angels. Wear white, bring hope, leave a mark.

A golf day fundraiser for Shaninlea Visser is being held at Umdoni Park Golf Club on October 11. For further information, contact 039-975-1320. There is currently a fundraising raffle for Shaninlea. The community is requested to collect items for the elderly to go into the Christmas shoe boxes that Joanne’s Angels are putting together. Donated items can be dropped off at Jawitz in Scottburgh. Suggested items: soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, face cloth, socks, biscuits, sweets. No chocolates – these will melt.
