Navaratri puja 2021 ends on high note

A journey was made approximately 1km out to sea where Mata Di’s final puja was conducted, before she was immersed into the depths of the ocean.

Following the success of Navaratri Puja 2021, the Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee extends heartfelt thanks to all devotees, members and sponsors who contributed towards this year’s function.

Visarjan (immersion of murthi) was performed with a different, yet welcoming approach this year. Unavailability of an aircraft to perform Visarjan led the committee to performing Mata Di’s farewell in a manner out of its conventional method.

Mata Di was transported to Durban harbour where she boarded a 25-seater boat together with devotees. A journey was made approximately 1km out to sea where Mata Di’s final puja was conducted, before she was immersed into the depths of the ocean.

Although different, this method had given devotees who were present a chance to experience a spiritual yet emotional part of the Visarjan first hand.

The Visarjan was also live streamed via the committee’s Facebook page.

The committee informs the public that preparations for Navaratri 2022 has commenced and is currently at its early stages. Those wishing to partake in the daily puja or contribute in any way, may contact Anosha Ramouthar on 074 8976413 or Romilla Ramdhan on 061 481 9446 for availability of dates.

November 2021 sees the committee performing its annual Diwali hamper drive. This entails distribution of 50 grocery hampers together with a cooked meal to the less fortunate. Those wishing to assist in cash or kind with this project may contact any of the committee representatives for further information

A reminder that Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee religious calendars for 2022 are in production and will be available shortly. Availability on purchase to be announced.
