Also adhering to the principle of ‘the people shall share in the country’s wealth’, Umdoni continues to implement numerous local economic development programmes to work towards an improved and sustained economic well-being of the Umdoni community.
The municipality has financially assisted 55 local businesses through the SMME and Co-Operative Support Programme in order for these businesses to grow and expand their operations. The effectiveness of this programme has been proven as current stats depict 96% of these businesses have grown immensely.
Umdoni’s youth is also an integral part of community development and amongst other programmes implemented to assist the local youth is the municipality’s tertiary registration fee assistance programme. To date, 260 young people have been assisted thus bringing into existence the principle of ‘the doors of learning and of culture shall be opened.’
Umdoni remains resolute to continue developing its area and all those who live in it.
