This follows the recovery of three handguns and 261 pieces of ammunition of various types which were stolen during a farm robbery in Paddock earlier this month.

Two men, aged 25 and 36 years appeared in the Ezinqoleni Magistrate’s Court facing charges of business robbery and possession of firearms and ammunition.

This follows the recovery of three handguns and 261 pieces of ammunition of various types which were stolen during a farm robbery in Paddock earlier this month.

Detectives at Paddock SAPS conducted an intelligence driven operation at Kwa Machi in Ezinqoleni which resulted in the arrest of two men in possession of firearms and ammunition.

The four rifles retrieved.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge explained that the farm owner had gone to town around midday when he received a report from his manager that a robbery had taken place on the farm.

“The two suspects were both armed with handguns and threatened the domestic worker. They asked for the manager who was not present and thereafter asked for the room where the safe was kept, while keeping guard of the domestic worker.

They searched the room until they found the safe keys and stole the firearms. The men fled on foot. The domestic worker then contacted the manager regarding the robbery after she managed to untie herself.”

Four rifles and three handguns were stolen.

A day later, all the rifles were found, near the old railway premises by a person who was clearing the yard.
