Record rainfall for October

As forecast, we have had a very wet October, with an excellent downpour on the 6th.

The one outcome of the unseasonably cold weather we experienced during October has been the sighting of 26 orca whales off our coast last month.

This correspondent had the joy of spotting a small pod of orcas cavorting off the Park Rynie beach on the morning of Friday, October 29.

As forecast, we have had a very wet October, with an excellent downpour on the 6th.

The rainfall figures for Scottburgh are as follows: 2nd – 33mm; 3rd – 0,5mm; 5th – 33mm; 6th – 75mm; 7th – 7,5mm; 16th – 22mm; 17th – 19mm; 19th – 1mm; 22nd – 6mm; 24th – 1mm; 26th – 20mm; 27th -11mm; 29th – 8,5mm; 30th 0,5mm.

The total rainfall for October was a significant 238mm – a record in recent years.

Rainfall in Scottburgh during October over the last five years: 2020 – 135mm; 2019 – 65,5mm; 2018 – 90mm; 2017 – 153mm with much flooding on the South Coast; 2016 -159mm.
