OPINION: Litter an eyesore in towns, beaches

Litter in our towns and on our beaches is becoming an eyesore.

DEAR Editor;

I write this letter with a heavy heart, not knowing what to do to improve the situation.

I have been enjoying my holidays on the South Coast as far back as I can remember, and in November 2020 we relocated from Gauteng to Umzumbe to enjoy our retirement.

Never did I think that I will be embarrassed by the environment – the amount of visible litter next to the highways, the towns and beaches. As mentioned, it’s an absolute embarrassment to invite family and friends to stay over.

As mentioned, I do not know how to and what to do and therefore my email – hoping that we can somehow highlight this, even get groups together to clean up.
