Enthusiasts enjoy camaraderie at croquet competition

Mbango Valley Association Croquet Club's clubhouse and seating area recently received a welcome facelift.

It is easy to see why the Mbango Valley Association’s Croquet Club continues to grow. The club’s wonderful blend of social interaction, friendly rivalry and competitive spirit is something to behold.

Recently, the club renewed its ties with the Margate Retirement Village croquet club, with members enjoying a splendid morning of social play and camaraderie.

The final stage of the GraceMed Floating Trophy Competition 2026 provided plenty of excitement, with some excellent play from the final four competitors.

Stewart Betts emerged victorious, defeating John Payne in the final to become the new holder of the trophy.

A breakfast in the club’s lovely surroundings provided a fitting end to a well-organised event.

The competition proved so successful that a doubles tournament is already being planned for early next year, with considerable interest from members.

The club is also committed to continually improving its facilities, and the clubhouse and seating area have recently received a welcome facelift.

Croquet really is a sport for everyone.

The club celebrated the 94th birthday of its oldest member, Rob Clark, on September 27 – a wonderful reminder that age is no barrier to enjoying the game and its fellowship.

Members are now looking forward to their much-anticipated end-of-year lunch, followed by another year of friendship, fun and plenty of time in the sun.
