NPO helps addicts recover
The purpose of Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery is to help people to stop using drugs/alcohol and to stay sober as well as adapt to a new way of living.
Mbongiseni Emmanuel Msomi is the founder and president of the Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery Organisation, a non profit which strives to provide solutions to those battling drug or alcohol addiction.
Msomi has had some of his many achievements shared via local newspapers and radio stations in the past few years, but not everyone knows how the organisation came about and what it stands for.
The purpose of Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery is to help people to stop using drugs/alcohol and to stay sober as well as adapt to a new way of living.
“Communities benefit from recovery because when people stop using, they become productive and constructive members of society which will potentially reduce crime and make our society a better place to live in,” explained Msomi.
“I am a recovering addict myself and I formed this organisation because I saw we have a problem with addicts, but no solutions.”

The NPO offers addicts a 12 step programme and helps refer people to rehab centres.
Msomi requests local communities to do their part to help addicts by giving donations or simply inviting them to do awareness campaigns in schools, businesses and government institutions to pass on the message of strength and hope this year.
The NPO has grown tremendously in the past year and Msomi thanks all who contributed to the growth.
“We no longer have an office to work from, but we are still providing a service that’s always in demand throughout the country,” said Msomi.
“We’ve been working in various provinces and helping addicts regardless of sex, race and religion, and in 10 years’ time we hope to see this NPO with offices in all provinces, a regular programme on television and radio, as well as big rehabilitation centres for all.”
