Nikkita all set to audition for big screen
Growing up in a farming community, Nikkita has been home schooled even after moving with her family to the South Coast three years ago.
Port Edward local, Nikkita Welman has made her family and community proud after being invited to audition for the Afrikaans Short Film industry.
Auditions will take place in Pretoria this Saturday (15th) and Nikkita is looking forward to it.
“This is a totally new adventure for me and I am so excited to be a part of it. I have been busy preparing my monologues and practicing my lines for family and friends,” she explained.

The 17 year old began her modelling career in 2020 and has since worked immensely hard.
Having joined the industry solely as a hobby, Nikkita was surprised at how quickly she began progressing.
Another notch in the young model’s belt is her recent feature in a music video for Afrikaans pop group, ‘Adam.’
“I was even more surprised when I saw that I was the producer’s choice winner. It was so amazing to be part of their Christmas hit and there are just no words to describe the feeling,” Nikkita said.
Growing up in a farming community, Nikkita has been home schooled even after moving with her family to the South Coast three years ago.
“I loved school. My dad would make up for sport and school activities by taking us fishing, camping and even taught us self defence,” she said.
Nikkita has an older brother, Danu who she considers a best friend.

They have three dogs named Daisy, Hunter and Roxy who are all Belgian malinois’.
In her spare time, Nikkita plays with Daisy or spends time with her family.
“Spending time with family was and always will be the biggest part of growing up. We still try to do things together as a family even with our busy schedules,” said Nikkita.
On her weekends off, Nikkita visits the beach and her hobbies include swimming and hiking. What she enjoys most though is curling up and relaxing with a good book.
She has also joined the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) as a volunteer.
Nikkita attributes much of her success to her parents, Melissa and Hercu as well as her aunt Amanda Liebenberg who would also drive her to her photoshoots. Her other aunt Natasha Manders would design and make her the most beautiful dresses for her photoshoots.
“Photoshoots are hard work as you have to let your imagination go and practise really hard. Not to forget the prep work every morning before a shoot. Without my family’s support I do not think I would have achieved this goal,” she said.
Nikkita encourages other young locals to never give up on their dreams, to work hard and to always enjoy what they do.
“My parents always say if opportunity knocks on your door, grab it with both hands and go for gold,” she said.
Looking to the future, Nikkita plans to enjoy life and each new adventure that comes her way.
