Nikkita thrilled after successful audition

Her first acting course will begin in February, as she has not received any formal acting training yet.

After an exhilarating round of auditions, Nikkita Welman of Port Edward received the wonderful news that she was successful in trying out for the Afrikaans Short Film industry.

At just 17 years old, this is a huge achievement for the young model who only recently began her formal career.

The auditions took place in Pretoria last Saturday and Nikkita was given the good news via email on Tuesday this week.

Out of 380 other people, Nikkita says it still feels unreal to be one of those who was successful.

Upon arrival, Nikkita along with all the others auditioning were grouped according to their performance categories.

“When I stepped on the stage I felt like I was going to faint,” she said.

She then proceeded to perform her monologue in front of the judges.

“It was quite daunting with all the lights and cameras on me, but I remained focused on the judges and just went for it,” Nikkita explained.

She admitted that in retrospect, most of the audition was a blur. Thankfully however, her aunt Marie and uncle Heine Prinsloo videoed her performance which she watched later on.

“I still cannot believe that I was able to do that. It was amazing! The judges smiled a lot and that just showed me that they enjoyed the performance” said Nikkita.

Her first acting course will begin in February, as she has not received any formal acting training yet.

This will take place over four months, with production set to begin between July and August this year.

“I just want to thank everybody from the South Coast for their support and their belief in me,” Nikkita said.
