Umzinto community tense after protest action leads to shooting

Authorities have been contacted for comment on the matter and an official report is being awaited.

What began as a peaceful protest to get water restored in Umzinto, soon took a turn for the worse as a shooting occurred near Riverside Park earlier today.

At this point in time, it is unclear as to who exactly was involved in the shooting and if anyone has been seriously injured.

Although many protesters have since dispersed, the community remains tense following this turn of events.

Authorities have been contacted for comment on the matter and an official report is being awaited.
