Calling all local artists
The focus of the club for 2022 is to portray the beauty of the KwaZulu-Natal lower South Coast in its paintings.
Members of local art club, Art by the Sea are back in full swing after a well-deserved holiday, following their annual art exhibition over the festive season.
With 50 years of art behind them, this dynamic group of artists left an indelible impression on art in the country (and abroad!), and continues to do so.
The focus of the club for 2022 is to portray the beauty of the KwaZulu-Natal lower South Coast in its paintings.
From picture perfect beaches to lush sub-tropical inland spots, the area abounds with paintable references. Art lovers can expect an amazing array of seascapes and landscapes at the next Art by the Sea exhibition.

Art by the Sea extends an open invitation to all established local artists, as well as novice artists with little experience, to join the ranks of the club.
The club gets together at the Margate Art Museum every Tuesday from 09:00 for three hours. The weekly sessions are of an informal nature, and members are not shy to share their expertise and techniques, this is what makes this art club special.
Over the next couple of weeks the following subjects inter alia will be presented in the form of demonstrations, workshops and lectures. Drawing and form, how to paint rocks, watercolour painting for beginners, painting flowers, how to paint waves, etc.
There will also be a lecture on how to apply social/electronic media to the benefit of artists.
Furthermore, regular outings to places of interest in the area to paint ‘plein air’ are planned. The first will be to the Mission Church, inland from Southbroom.
For more information, contact Art by the Sea chairman, Johann du Toit via SMS or Whatsapp on 072 603 7517.
