Artist dreams of cracking local market
Gumede's wide selection of art is done in either pencil, ink, waxed based colour pencils or paint. He can also sculpt and paint murals on walls.
Talented artist Sesese Gumede (24) of Sea Park is trying to make a living by selling his art.
The former Port Shepstone High pupil who studied graphic design after school wants to stay local and promote his hometown.
Gumede’s wide selection of art is done in either pencil, ink, waxed based colour pencils or paint. He can also sculpt and paint murals on walls.
The young man comes from an arty family, and discovered his talent from the age of five while at creche.

“I was asked to draw our surroundings and field at the creche and my teachers were amazed at what I drew,” he said.
Gumede says that while he was studying graphic design in Durban he would graffiti positive messages over negative gangster scribbles.
He finds his inspiration in nature, and enjoys drawing African art and portraits.
Gumede has big dreams of opening up his own studio and showcasing his work at a gallery.
In the meantime, you might catch him sitting at the beach sketching the landscape or a beachgoer.
“I love the ocean, so sitting and drawing at the beach, would make for a great day,” he added.
