Stolen bags of fertiliser, pistol recovered

Two other men (aged 29 and 38), who are foreign nationals suspected to be in the country illegally, were also arrested.

Police arrested three men on the N2 freeway near Umkomaas on Tuesday after receiving information that the vehicle they were travelling in was transporting stolen bags of fertiliser.

Upon searching the vehicle, a one man (57) was found in possession of a stolen 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition.

Two other men (aged 29 and 38), who are foreign nationals suspected to be in the country illegally, were also arrested.

“Police found 35 bags of fertilizer suspected to have been stolen from Umbumbulu,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala of the Saps KZN Media Centre.

“The men are facing charges for being in possession of suspected stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as for being in the country illegally.”
