Two South Coast rapists get hefty time behind bars

Both rapists details will be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders.

Two rapists have been removed from society after they were recently convicted and sentenced in local courts on the South Coast.

Thembelani Richman Hadebe (40) was sentenced in the Scottburgh Regional Court on February 8 to life imprisonment for the rape of a child (7) in Hibberdene during July 2019.

Hadebe was immediately arrested by police and was in police custody throughout the duration of his trial.  In his sentencing he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his details will be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders.

In another case which occurred in March 2019 at Madikane in Murchison, a teenage boy was raped at knifepoint by someone known to him.

The matter was reported and the suspect was arrested by police.

The accused, Olwethu Wandile Majola (20) remained in police custody and was recently sentenced in the Port Shepstone Regional Court to eight years’ imprisonment.

He was declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders.

Detective Sergeant Siboniso Gcaba of the Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) successfully investigated and presented solid cases for trial thus ensuring appropriate sentences were obtained.
