Local actor aims for stars
He completed his schooling at Mansfield Primary and Mthusi High School.

His fans describe him as tall dark and handsome – Kwenzokuhle Ngcobo from Izingolweni has gained a big fan base as a star on the telenovela, ‘The Wife’.
The show is aired on Showmax.
Kwenzo made his breakthrough on the E-tv show Imbewu:The Seed and he was then seen on the big screen.

He completed his schooling at Mansfield Primary and Mthusi High School.
He then went on to study drama at the Durban University of Technology (DUT).
“I started acting when I was still at DUT in my second year in 2013. It was mostly in theatre doing short films.”
Kwenzo is now the most loved character on ‘The Wife’ and plays the role of Qhawe Zulu.

The show is inspired by the book ‘Hlomu the Wife’ where five of eight brothers are involved in the taxi industry and there is a love triangle between two of the brothers.
When the series started South Africans were not happy with the chosen cast, and had their own preferred cast members according to the book.
Kwenzo said at first the attention and response from people was not good.
“The backlash on social media was not nice but eventually people started enjoying our work because of the effort we put in. I also didn’t know that the show would be so big.”
He said when he told his family about it, especially his younger sister, they were over the moon and as he hadn’t read the book he didn’t understand what the fuss was about.

“My sister then told me about the book and what a big deal it was, then I realised that this was huge.”
He says it has been a great journey and he is aiming for the stars.
Kwenzo says he will definitely do more acting and wants to go international.
