Audit motivates municipality to work harder

Mayor Sibongile Khathi was pleased to witness this outcome so far.

After placing the required emphasis towards addressing the Auditor General’s audit findings of the 2019/20 fiscal year, it has produced positive results for Umdoni Municipality, sealing its 2020/21 financial books with an unqualified audit opinion.

“The said financial year’s report portrayed a significant improvement in the municipality’s asset management as there were no findings raised this time which were the main area of concern in the previous financial year,” explained Umdoni communications manager, Sphelele Cele.

“The unqualified audit opinion of the year under review was with areas of emphasis predominantly pertaining to the municipality’s Supply Chain Management.”

Mayor Sibongile Khathi was pleased to witness this outcome so far.

“One can attribute such an achievement to the culture of a shared responsibility by political and administrative leadership together with staff members,” she said.

“This audit outcome should and will serve as motivation to various structures of service delivery hierarchy of the municipality to work even harder and play a pivotal role in ensuring enriched financial bill of health moving forward.”

Mayor Khathi went on to thank all staff members, management and the Audit Committee on behalf of the council for their commitment towards ensuring issues raised by the Auditor General are addressed.
