Man who murdered pensioner sentenced to 30 years

The sentences are to run concurrently.

Mthokozisi Blessing Mseleku (36) who stabbed a 96-year-old man to death in a house robbery was sentenced recently in the Scottburgh High Court.

Mseleku received an effective 30 years imprisonment for murder, 15 years for robbery and 10 years for housebreaking.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

On November 28, 2021, Mseleku broke into the residence of a harmless pensioner in Mfazazane, Hibberdene and robbed him of a large amount of cash.

He also stabbed the elderly man multiples times before fleeing.

The case was quickly finalised as Mseleku pleaded guilty to the charges.

The investigating officer was Detective Sergeant Siyabonga Bovana of Hibberdene Detective Service.

Ugu District Detective Commander, Brigadier Bongani Sibiya was happy with the outcome of the case and the efficient finalisation of the matter.
