Fire and rescue team extricates trapped motorist after vehicle collision in Southport

The cause of the collision is not known, but authorities are investigating.

One person was critically injured after being trapped in a vehicle in a collision on the R102 in Southport last night.
 
Another two patients sustained minor injuries.
 
Craig Botha of KwaZulu Private Ambulance said that when emergency services arrived they found that a vehicle and taxi had been involved in a collision.
 
“With the assistance of Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue services, the patient was stabilised and extricated from the vehicle using specialised rescue tools,” he said.
 
The patients were transported to hospital for further treatment.
