One of the essential goals of education is to teach learners reading and listening skills, mathematical skills, critical thinking and creativity.
To help achieve this, Hlanganani Preparatory started a chess club as a lunchtime activity. This will improve learners concentration and memory and enhance both reading and mathematical skills.
Chess is an excellent tool to reinforce critical thinking.
Chess serves as a bridge, bringing together children of different age groups and gender in an activity they can all enjoy.
This is a skill they can use throughout even into adulthood.
