Police investigates concealment of birth case

Police found the deceased infant on a premises in Palmview, Port Shepstone.

Port Shepstone Saps is investigating a case of concealment of birth.

“We can confirm that a case of concealment of birth was opened at Port Shepstone police station for investigation after a 27 year old woman allegedly gave birth early in February 2022 and dumped the foetus,” said provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala.

Police found the deceased infant on a premises in Palmview, Port Shepstone.

“Once DNA results are back the woman will be charged as she is denying the foetus is hers, ” added Gwala.

The investigation is continuing.
