Conservancy raises awareness, more members join up help

During the evening a beautiful silver pendant, crafted by goldsmith, Paul Nel, was won by Marie Cranbrook.

The Ivungu (Uvongo) Conservancy has a fresh boost of energy for 2022.

They have fabulous new sponsors and members on board in the way of actively participating residents who have the greenness of beautiful Uvongo Village at heart.

Recently, an ‘awareness’ evening was held at the Douglas Mitchell Sports Bar, where the conservancy endeavoured to reach as many Uvongo loving supporters as possible to attend a night of socialising, dancing and great music by the band, Four Beats in a Bar.

The response was overwhelming with regards to people joining the conservancy, not only from Uvongo residents but from a number of other Lower South Coast towns as well…and one from Scotland too.

Enter now and win a helicopter spin for you and two of your friends.

During the evening a beautiful silver pendant, crafted by goldsmith, Paul Nel, was won by Marie Cranbrook.

The group of volunteers would like to spread the word that the amazing prize of a helicopter trip for three is on offer until April 4.

This competition was opened up at the recent event and the good news is, that even if you weren’t at Douglas Mitchell, you may still enter.

A fee of R100 makes you both a member of the Uvongo Conservancy for a year as well as automatically enters you into this competition.

The winner will be drawn on April 8, live on Facebook and will be notified telephonically.
Every cent received goes toward maintaining the Ivungu river, waterfall and Uvongo beach areas – keeping them free of alien vegetation, litter and providing necessary and informative signboards.

It is of paramount importance to keep the river that feeds the landmark Uvongo waterfall, that spills into the sea, healthy.

The conservancy assures that ‘becoming a member’ does not mean pressure.

One does not have to attend meetings if you don’t want to (although you will be welcomed with open arms). It just means that your subs allows this group of greenies to continue doing the necessary projects within the green areas of Uvongo Village.

To be kept up to date with events (guided river walks, free talks, music evenings) – please email your details to Sarah on: snc1@mweb.co.za

The conservancy thanks all those who attended the recent event and joined up.
Thanks to the generous sponsors for the awesome prizes.
