Celebrating 60 in style

Cliff Bamber, a well-known local from the mid-South Coast and deputy principal of Scottburgh High, recently celebrated his 60th birthday with an unforgettable microlight experience gifted to him by his family.
Bamber was flown over numerous areas by Noel McDonogh of World of Wings Flight School.
McDonogh was pleased to take his former educator on the flight as Bamber taught him Geography back in 1991.
“It was very interesting to have my old student take me, the teacher on a trip to see how everything looked above the ground from a geographical point of view,” explained Bamber.
“I also do a lot of mountain biking and swimming and have always had a great interest in the coastline, so we went over the areas I usually cycle or swim in to see it from a different perspective.”
The duo flew over Craigieburn, Umkomaas, Widenham, Clansthal, Scottburgh and of course Scottburgh High.
“We also climbed to 2500ft to try and see the Drakensberg,” added McDonogh.
Bamber described the experience as simply “marvellous and amazing” and plans to do these microlight trips every five years.
