Opinion: Pensioner wants answers from Eskom about account

I never received my Eskom account in the post, then I got one for February for an astronomical amount, but in between I had been paying a nominal amount.

How does one sort out a problem with Eskom if you don’t have email?

I have been trying since last year, I sent an email from a computer shop and never got communication back at all from them.

Try phoning the contact centre and be prepared to wait one-and-a-half hours for the phone to be answered. There is no office on the coast where one can go.

I never received my Eskom account in the post, then I got one for February for an astronomical amount, but in between I had been paying a nominal amount.

Eskom cut me off with no notification at all on February 7. I managed to scrape together the amount and paid it in full and the power was switched on.

I managed to get in touch with a supervisor because I wanted clarification on how Eskom got that amount, and I was told I still owed money which I paid because I was worried they would cut my power again.

My meter box is broken and the glass is shattered, so one cannot read the figures. So I say, I would like a breakdown of my consumption, and exactly what I have been charged for and the connection fee!

I am not the only person who has had problems with Eskom, so please sort this problem out!
