Umdoni’s leadership meets amakhosi

The main objective of the meeting was to construct a new working plan moving forward.

The Umdoni Troika, headed by speaker councillor Mbali Cele-Luthuli, conducted a successful consultative meeting with amakhosi under Umdoni Municipality.

The meeting, which was facilitated by the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) and Umdoni Public Participation was the first meeting held with the new leadership of Umdoni.

“The main objective was to construct a new working plan moving forward,” explained Umdoni communications officer, Zime Gcaba.

“Amakhosi were given a platform to advise on the working plan and on issues pertaining to their Tribal Authorities and needs, and speaker Cele-Luthuli emphasised the importance of working together with traditional leaders.”

Mayor Sibongile Khathi stressed the importance of the Troika meeting with amakhosi at least once per quarter.

It was also agreed upon that amakhosi would be allocated in all portfolio committees.
