Tuning in: Join in for fun morning at regatta this Saturday
The Umdoni Model Boat Club will be holding a radio controlled sailing regatta at the Dog House Dam. There will also be a display of radio controlled scale model tugs and other vessels.
It’s the last newspaper for March – the month has flown by.
Grateful thanks to the staff at the vaccination site at Halfway Toyota Park Rynie. Busisiwe Msomi and Nombuso Gumede were kind and caring while I got a shot in the arm!
Lientjie Gerber thanked the men who helped to save two of her daughters who got into trouble in the water. Sadly, she didn’t get their names. This is the second sea incident in as many weeks. Vigilance is required at all times.

Scottburgh recently bid farewell to Isis the African fish eagle from Crocworld Conservation Centre.

Isis was the second oldest African fish eagle in captivity worldwide and died at the age of 35.
She was found in 1987 on the roadside with a damaged wing, and was taken to the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW), but it was discovered that she would not be able to fly properly and in turn would not be released into the wild.
Luckily, she was able to find a forever home at the conservation centre. Isis will be missed by all.

A note was received from the complex manager of Pennington Waves regarding the dumping of refuse.
The community should note that refuse is not collected daily. The complex consists of 24 units and 12 shops. Refuse from elsewhere cannot be accommodated. Also, bags are not placed in the bins, they are piled on top of full bins, or placed next to the bins.
Monkeys and vagrants rummage through the rubbish and leave a mess. The staff from Pennington Waves and/or the staff members of OK Foods are then tasked to clean up the mess. When the refuse is not collected (for a variety of reasons) the rotting, smelling mess becomes a hazard.
On Mondays (refuse collection day) the area looks like a dumpsite which incites nasty comments about how the area looks and smells. It is suggested that dumpers of refuse make alternate arrangements for the disposal of refuse if leaving before refuse collection day.
Community members who rent out property for holidays should advise tenants of this.
