ANC elects new regional executive

The last elections the ANC held was in 2014, then in 2018, a task team was appointed.

The African National Congress (ANC) Lower South Coast Region which is now also known as Tolomane Mnyayiza region held its seventh regional conference at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre last weekend.

Mnyayiza died barely five months after taking over at Ugu in 2016. He was also the chairperson of the ANC in the region, he was and still is described as ‘a leader who was very firm but honest and reliable’.

The last elections the ANC held was in 2014, then in 2018, a task team was appointed.

Regional deputy chairperson Sikhumbuzo Mqadi, Secretary Xolani Luthuli, deputy secretary Zodwa Mzindle and treasurer Bongani Nyuswa.

The weekend’s conference was described as one of the most successful and productive regional conferences in recent years.

Some of the resolutions that were taken, was to rename the region to Tolomane Mnyayiza.

It also resolved that the new Regional Executive Committee should urgently attend to water supply problems in the district, develop a clear programme of action towards 2024 to ensure that the ANC regains the ground lost in the November 2021 local government elections.

Mondli Chiliza was elected as the new chairperson, Sikhumbuzo ‘Zero’ Mqadi as the deputy chairperson, Xolani Luthuli as the secretary, Zodwa Mzindle as the deputy secretary and Bongani Nyuswa as the treasurer.

In a statement the ANC secretary, Xolani Luthuli said they welcome the new leadership, and they are committed to serving all people without favour.
